BTU Analytics - COVID-19 Puts Wave 2 LNG in Jeopardy
Just under a year ago, BTU Analytics released Getting to the Gulf, an in-depth analysis of Wave 2 LNG facilities and the potential infrastructure bottlenecks that could hinder growth. At the time, US LNG demand had been on a steady upward trend with feedgas deliveries growing over 90% in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately hit US LNG exports and as a result significantly altered the trajectory of US LNG forecasts. In today’s Energy Market Insight, BTU Analytics revisits Wave 2 LNG facilities’ progress, or lack thereof, that could put Wave 2 LNG in jeopardy.

SPE Oil and Gas Facilities - What Are the Market Drivers for a Recovery?
The crude oil and natural gas markets may recover in 2020, but the speed of recovery in terms of pricing will be different. The crude oil market is rebalancing following a recent mild price recovery, but an increase in COVID-19 cases remains cause for concern. Natural gas may not recover until winter 2020/2021 as low prices, weak demand, and ample storage weigh on the industry.
“Each of (the markets) has very different dynamics going on, but they are definitely being impacted by pandemic and demand destruction trends,” said Enverus VP of Strategic Analytics Bernadette Johnson.
Speaking during the virtual 2020 Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC), Johnson outlined key drivers for the markets.

World Oil - Edge LNG lands new project to monetize stranded Marcellus gas
PENNSYLVANIA - Edge LNG has been selected by EXCO Resources to capture and liquefy gas from a stranded well in the Marcellus Shale. Initial operations are underway and expected to continue through 2022.
The agreement will see Edge LNG deploy its fully mobile, truck-delivered LNG equipment to the Marcellus site, including three Cryobox liquefaction units, with the potential to expand through the rapid deployment of additional units.
The unique process, created by Galileo Global Technologies and deployed exclusively by Edge LNG in North America, can be delivered to any site accessible by road. After set-up and safety checks, production can begin within hours, with minimal investment required of the site owner and no need for pipeline infrastructure.
